BMW International Rally in Redmond Oregon

The Rally site is in a beautiful site here in Redmond. There are about 6,500 registered participants and I am guessing by the looks of the grounds about 90 percent of them are staying in tents and rode to the Rally. I have not seen one trailered bike yet, although I am sure there must be a couple of antiques. The variety of vendors is more than I have ever seen at any rally including Daytona, Mrytle Beach and Sturgis. The nice thing this is that it is almost an exclusively BMW rally and I have not seen another bike here at all. No loud pipes, or loud people for that matter. A very civilized and polite crowd. The grounds are spotless, no trash at all and the showers and facilities are kept spotless. It is a pleasure to be here and experience this. The closest thing I can compare it to is the annual Experimental Aircraft event in Oshkosh each summer. There is definitely a nice group of people that ride these bikes and they have a passion for the marque. I am betting that a full 50 percent of the bikes are GS's with the rest being of the other designs over the years. I met up with about 5 Mac-Pac members here and we have spent time together. Today we took a ride down to Crater Lake. More on this later. Here is the Rally venue. A well organized tent city, complete with a beer garden, nightly entertainment, seminars and every vendor you could hope to visit. The is the best ever motorcycle event for me and I look forward to next year's which will be held in Bloomsburg, PA. I magine that!
