Violet's Magic needles

Violet is now working her magic on my seat, sewing and fitting the final cover. I elected to go with black vinyl, as from all reports the leather requires far more care and the use of a rain cover every time it rains.... I have enough trouble getting into my rainsuit in a hurry let alone having to worry about the seat. There are all sorts of options on coverings including vinyl, leather, suede, and various combinations of them. You also have to pick among several thread patterns, inserts and thread colors. You can get really fancy and they do all kinds of custom embroidery on a computerized sewing machine that can do all kinds of fonts and logo's. Maybe I should have had "bomber 1" embroidered on the seat. :-) That is my self imposed nickname in the Phat Pac. I almost decided to go with a red insert in the main seat with black around the edges, but I am glad I went with all black, once I saw the size of the finished seat. Black makes it look smaller and more in proportion to the bike. In raw foam, it looked huge. Here is Violet and her handiwork. From here the seat with go back to Chris and then to Jose who will do the final cover installation. It is 2:30 and things are moving along pretty quickly.
