WOW! Who turned up the heat!
When I left Lassen NP the road began to drop straight into what is called the "central valley" I think. From 5,000 feet down to 800 feet in about 30 miles. The temps went from the low 80's to over 100 very quickly. To be honest though, it is dry and once I got to the Fawndale campground that the folks at Russell had recommended and got in the shade it was comfortable. Then a dip in the pool sealed the deal. I was a bit nervous about what I would find at Fawndale, as the area around here is pretty sparse, but this is an oasis. The best way I can describe the whole property which consists of cabins, RV spots, and tent spaces is that it is maintained to the same level as our marina in Rock Hall. Super clean, everything in its place and nicely taken care of etc. If you are ever in this part of the country, I highly recommend it. Thanks Russell! Here is my humble abode for the evening.
