Grandpa and Josh Fishing

Well, grandpa has been promising to take Josh fishing at Bill Thrush's pond for a few weeks and mother nature has not been cooperating. Today was the day so I picked him up at home at about 7:30 am and took him to breakfast with the "boys" at the gun club. He had a few cups of coffee and some pancakes to start the day off well. If any of you know much about us McKelvy's, we don't have to worry about stunting his growth any. Actually, a little "stunting" would probably be a good thing come his later years.

Then it was off to Bill's for some good old fishing. To say it is "fishing in a barrel" is pretty accurate as a few bread crumbs cast on the water makes it boil with fish. A little bread on the hook and it is pull them in one after the other. There were geese and ducks on the lake and we even saw one very large bass jump and slap his tail on the water. Our fair was "sunnies" but they were plentiful and in short order Josh filled the bucket. All-in-all, he caught about 25 in an hour. They were eventually released back into the pond. Then it was off to lunch at McDondalds and to school for Josh. A memorable day for grandpop and hopefully one Josh will remember long after I am gone. He is a pleasure to be with. Great fun!
