Westward Ho!

Well it is the eve of my departure for California and Oregon. The purpose of this trip is to have a new seat made for my motorcycle by Russell Saddles of Shasta Lake California and to attend the BMW International Rally in Redmond Oregon. The folks at Russell say that if you really want a custom fit and a seat made precisely for you, the best way is to "bring your butt along" for them to see. Now there is a mental picture for you. :-) The "real" purpose of the trip is to satisfy my passion to explore this country via motorcycle. As most of you know, I ride a BMW R1200GS. My new vanity plate for this bike is GS-USA... enough said! This is the first long trip of this nature I have taken alone, so I may find myself very lonely and regret the decision, but you never know until you get out there and do it. As most of you also know, I am very shy and will probably have a hard time striking up a conversation with people along the way. NOT! I will have my camera along and a computer, so I plan to keep this blog posted with my progress, trials, tribulations and discoveries along the way.
