Final Preparations
As you might guess, there is a lot of preparation for a trip like this. I have been pouring over maps for months making choices of routes that get me there on time yet avoid as much Interstate SLAB as possible. Tomorrow will be a slab day with a destination goal of Indianapolis. I have done this route many times and it is just one of those things you have to do to get "out west". The bike has been fully serviced with the help of good friend Mac Kirkpatrick. All adjustments were made and fluids replaced. Yes.. I love those wrenching days out in the garage with like minded friends. The picture here shows about 2/3 of what will be carried. All tools and emergency gear are already stowed in their respective spots. Sleeping bag and tent go on last. Yes this will be a camping trip! I am excited and will probably not sleep well tonight. I just love to see "WEST" on any road sign. There is just something about heading that direction that excites me. Maybe I was born a hundred years too soon. I think I would have been one of those folks in a covered wagon heading for the gold rush!
